The Charity Guild Enters CyberSpace Fundraising

The Charity Guild has been providing food, clothing and a variety of household appliances and other goods to the greater Brockton area since 1971. Located at 501 Main Street, the Charity Guild's mission is to:
"To provide basic and necessary services
to those unable to meet their primary needs
of food, clothing and household goods."

Since April of this year they created an Ebay site to help expand the reach of fundraising to potentially the whole world. Please check out their Ebay site and tell your friends and relatives not living in the area about the great deals and also to help support a good cause.

Brockton Public Library Presents Snuggle Up with an EBook Poetry Contest

Brockton Public Library presents Snuggle Up With An EBook poetry contest
The days are short but our imaginations are long. Use the cold weather to fuel your creativity and you could win a new Kindle through the library’s “Snuggle Up With An Ebook” poetry contest. Applications are available at all three Brockton Public Library locations. All ages are invited to enter the contest. The rules are simple: write an original poem with the theme “Reading on a Wintery Day.” Submit your poem to the library by Saturday, January 26. We will have a reception for all participants on Saturday, February 2 where Mayor Balzotti will award Kindle prizes for three categories (children 12 and under, teens, and adults aged 18 and over.) All entries will be displayed in the library for the month of February.
Since library staff are not eligible to enter the contest, here is the director’s entry in advance: In darkened night/And quiet times/The words tumble and take shape before my inquiring eyes/They freeze on the pulpy page/Like snowflakes on glass/Each word attracts another/Every sentence unique/Their messages chill/They form and endure/Yet in the reading/In the oddest twisted way/Keep my mind from doing the same. For more information, contact Elizabeth Marcus, library director at emarcus@cobma.us or 508-580-7890 x101.
