Stop, Think, Let it Go Barbecue this Friday, Sept. 6th.

BROCKTON — Mayor Linda M. Balzotti invites city youth to a barbecue at the Arnone School Friday, Sept. 6th as part of the city’s Stop. Think. Let it Go efforts.

Stop. Think. Let it Go., a statewide initiative of which Brockton is part, encourages individuals to pause, and think about their actions, before rushing into violence to resolve a conflict. Many anti-violence programs currently operating in the city have followed the model.

Friday’s event provides an opportunity for young people to come together to embrace it.

The barbecue is sponsored by the Office of Mayor Linda M. Balzotti, the Safe Corners Street Outreach Program—a collaboration between the city and the Old Colony YMCA, and Boogie Down Brockton—a community group that practices the 12 principles of peace: love; courage; forgiveness; conflict is an opportunity for communication and positive dialogue; hope; justice; faith; empathy; avoid internal violence; attack the forces of evil; celebrate diversity; and unity, and endeavors to promote peace through peer education, training, supporting activities, events, and other initiatives.

The event is free and open to the public and is geared toward youth. It will include: food, music, and a screening of the Stop. Think. Let it Go public service announcement.
